Victorian Steampunk Cosplay Event Seeks Actors, Vendors; Teaching Girls to Negotiate

1.) The?What Makes You Feel Beautiful Project?is hosting its first fundraiser,?a Victorian Social Affair.?
The Victorian Social Affair will take place at Hida Japanese Restaurant and Garden in Hawthorne on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m.?Come dressed in your best Victorian, Steampunk and Cosplay outfits, while prancing around Hida’s magical Japanese garden. Enjoy a tapas buffet, entertainment, prize giveaways and a vendors to shop from at the Victorian market.

What Makes You Feel Beautiful is looking for actors, dancers, instrumentalists and magicians who’d like to volunteer at the event.
What Makes You Feel Beautiful is an amazing project by photographer Monica Marrow that celebrates inner beauty. Each month,?What Makes You Feel Beautiful?selects one woman as the Beauty of the Month?and asks them what makes them feel beautiful. The project explores the relationship between inner beauty and what is considered visually beautiful.

2.) A Mighty Girl has put together some fantastic resources for parents who want their daughters to know and fight for their worth. They shared some tips from?Fast Company on how to raise girls that are good negotiators.
Linda Hoke-Sinex, a psychologist at Indiana University, told Fast Company that teaching negotiations skills also involves teaching kids how to re-direct negative self-talk.?Hoke-Sinex said girls must also unlearn stereotypes that suggest being “good” requires passive communication.
