Sustainable Westchester Signs 17 Towns For Renewable Energy Options; Maria Regina Women’s History ‘Living’ Wax Exhibit
Here’s what’s happening?Today in the 914:
1.) Westchester is going solar, wind and water. According to the The Wall Street Journal, 17 municipalities in our wonderfully progressive county?have collectively signed new energy contracts that will not only give?homeowners?the option to use renewable energy, but will also save money when compared with rates from the last 12 months.
GIANT WIN, and GIANT WIN!
Sustainable Westchester is responsible for striking the two-year deal with ConEdison Solutions to supply the 90,000 homes and small business with fixed rates for renewable energy. And they plan on signing on even more Westchester homes, giving them the chance to lessen their impact on the environment while saving money on group electric rates.

2.) There were some heavy hitters hanging out in Westchester this week.
Madam C.J. Walker, the first American woman to become a self-made millionaire who?lived in Irvington; Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean; and?Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space.
No, this isn’t the premise of a a?Back to the Future?or?Bill and Ted sequel. It was Maria Regina High School’s living wax museum event to honor Women’s History Month.
Students researched an influential woman’s life; created a project and presentation on their subjects; and even dressed the part while educating fellow students on their findings. Check out the video of this super cool event on News 12 Westchester.
