Roe v. Wade Turns 43; Snow Shoveling, Sledding Safety Tips

Here’s what’s happening today, Jan. 23 in the 914, according to Westchester Woman:

1.) Even though it’s been 43?years after Roe v. Wade was passed legalizing a women’s right to choose, advocates still have to fight to make sure reproductive rights aren’t rolled back and women have access to safe and legal abortions.

However, with the number of legislative attacks on abortion in 2015, you’d probably still think it’s 1973.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, ?there were more than 514 legislative provisions related to abortion in the 2015 state legislative session. About 396 specifically sought to restrict access to abortion.

“This year will be remembered not only because 17 states enacted a total of 57 new abortion restrictions, but also because the politics of abortion ensnared family planning programs and providers as well as critical, life-saving fetal tissue research,” the Guttamacher report reads.
