Westchester Hosts Opioid Epidemic Forum, Training ; Locals Bring Back Freezy Freakies Gloves for Grown Ups

Here’s what’s happening today, Jan. 27 ?in the 914, according to Westchester Woman:

1.) The opioid and heroin epidemic?in America has hit crisis levels, and?ruining the lives of?Westchester?families. The Centers for Disease Control report that more people died of drug overdoses in the U.S. in 2014 than any other previous year on record, 61 percent of which involved an opioid, like heroin.

The Journal News/LoHud and the Westchester County Department of Health will both host meetings and trainings to help put an end to this scourge and protect Westchester residents.

 

On Feb. 22 and March 21, the County’s Health Department will offer free opioid overdose training. Participants will be using Naloxone and given Narcan kits to take home. You can get the details and register for these courses by clicking the link above.

The Journal News/LoHud will present a slate of speakers during a community conversation about solutions to the?local heroin epidemic on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Walter Panas High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Croton Ave. in Cortlandt. You can get the details and register for the event here.
