Human Rights Day; Fathering Conference; Swag Day Promotes Girls in STEM

Here’s what’s happening today in the 914, according to Westchester Woman:

1.) Today is Human Rights Day. Human Rights Day was started by the United Nations in 1948 today when they made a proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, one of the UN’s first achievements that was the first global enunciation of human rights.” Read the full history of Human Rights Day here.

The first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that:

“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”

2.) This year’s New York Fathering Conference, titled “Taking Care of Business: Equipping Dads for Parenting, Employment and Wellness,” is scheduled for April 5 from??8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The New York Fathering Conference Program Committee is looking for proposals from professionals who work with fathers and can conduct 90 minutes workshops with attendees on the following:

• Employment issues, such as hiring trends, job training and career building resources, re-entry into the workforce and changing careers
• Conflict resolution, domestic violence, anger management
• Navigating social services, child support and family court
• Physical and mental health issues
