Here’s what’s happening today, Dec. 15 in the 914:
1.) Westchester County Legislators voted 10-7 (seven Republicans and two Democrats) to adopt a $1.8 billion budget that will not increase County taxes for the sixth year in a row.?The budget restores some positions,?as well as some funding for non-profits that were cut in County Executive Rob Astorino’s original proposal, according to LoHud.com.
Some legislators, however, criticized the budget for relying on assumed revenue projections, for example, the budget is relying on a 4 percent increase in sales tax revenue. Democratic legislators expressed their concern that these tactics may lower the County’s credit rating.
