These Lace Doily and Rhinestone Pumpkins Offer Chic DIY Halloween Decor

Call me a “Granny,” but I am a sucker for doilies, lace, or anything crochet, and look for every opportunity I can to use them. I was ecstatic when I found a way to incorporate them into some DIY Halloween Decor.

A while back, I purchased a whole bunch of doilies in a number of colors from the dollar bin at Michaels, (the one in Port Chester has a great dollar bin!), but you can also find them online.

I use them for a number of things and figured Halloween should be no exception. These pumpkins are so adorable and fun to make, but my favorite thing about them is that they make for some classy-looking Halloween decor.

Halloween decor can often come off as cartoony or kitschy and/or geared toward children but the doily pumpkin offers a more sophisticated way to celebrate the holiday.

If you can’t find crochet doilies, you can substitute them with lace, paper doilies, or even lace stockings. I didn’t really have an organized method for this project, I just used stuff I found in my craft bin. The? plastic pumpkins were purchased from Christmas Tree Shop and the black rhinestones are from Michaels.

What you’ll need:

I pulled the stems off the pumpkins and applied the doilies with hot glue, then re-applied the stems.

I cut the doilies in various lengths and then drew the spider free-hand with puff paint, and then added a little bling with the black rhinestones. I also added some gold sticker studs for contrast on the others.

The orange pumpkin has more of a harvest theme, so this can be used through the Thanksgiving holiday as well. Hope you enjoy your new DIY Halloween decor!
