Here’s what’s happening Today in the 914, according to Westchester Woman:
1.) We’ve all heard about the benefits of breastfeeding our children, however some moms have trouble getting access to healthy breast milk. New York women have created the state’s first donor-driven breast milk bank for moms who can’t produce or get access to their own breast milk.
The New York Milk Bank (NYMB) is located on Old Broadway in Hastings-on-Hudson. Read more about the NYMB in Westchester Magazine.
Photos courtesy of Justin Chauncey Photography Breast feeding’s wealth of natural health benefits for both baby and mother, including protection against infant ear infections and even breast and ovarian cancer, have been well documented.
2.) Sister to Sister International, an organization to link women of African decent globally, and Community Partner present the Girl Power Forum on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Honorable Kathie E. Davidson, the supervising Judge for Family Courts in the Ninth Judicial District, will serve at the keynote speaker.
