Judy Gold to Headline Ha! Ridge Hill; The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools

Here’s what’s happening Today in the 914, according to Westchester Woman:

1.) Judy Gold will be the first female comic to headline Westchester comedy club Ha! Ridge Hill. Gold is beyond hilarious, talented and has a lengthy list of accolades, which you can find here.

Gold, a mother of two, is active in both the LGBT and Jewish communities. Here’s her video promo for the Jewish Community Center (JCC) on the Hudson in Tarrytown.

Morris, co-founder of the National Black Women’s Justice Institute, says that the instances of a 16-year-old black teen being expelled for a science experiment; another girl tossed to the ground during a pool party fight; an another thrown across the room in a South Carolina classroom are not all coincidences.

She says the U.S. has a trend of judging and condemning black girls and teens based on ideologies of racism and patriarchy, and explores this in her new book  Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.
