LOFT’s Holiday Party; Treasury Delays Announcement of What Woman Will Be On U.S. Currency

Here’s what’s happening today in the 914:

1.) The LOFT LGBT Community Center is throwing a holiday house party/fundraiser. Enjoy food, festive games and lots of fun in the White Plains home of LOFT members Jeff and James. Jeff and James will make a tax deductible holiday donation to the LOFT and encourage party guests to do the same.

A meet and greet with drinks starts at 6 p.m.; open buffet at 7 p.m.; and Dirty Santa, which gives you the option to steal another’s gifts, starts at 8 p.m. RSVP with the number of guests who are attending by Dec. 16 to jgurkinyoung@gmail.com.

2.) Women on 20s started the movement to get a woman on the $20 bill and it looks like they are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see what woman the U.S. Treasury Department chose. Though the department declared that a woman would be chosen to share the the spotlight with Alexander Hamilton on the $10, they are delaying the chose of which woman who will appear on the bill until 2016.
